Camden Campus Photos

The Camden Campus Photos collection at the Paul Robeson Library includes hundreds of photographs of campus spaces and people. Images range from large format black-and-white aerial photographs of the campus to small candid Polaroids of people attending campus events. Some photographic prints housed at the library are clearly labeled with dates and names, while others provide no contextual information beyond the image itself.

Over 200 photographs from this collection were digitized by graduate students Stephanie Lang, Claudia Sozio, and Paige Taylor. The students analyzed each photograph to estimate the era when the image was captured and, whenever feasible, to identify the precise campus location represented.

Using these photographs, the students created a project that traces the campus's growth and transformation over time and provides a map of the campus with historical photographs pinned by location. Check out their project: Rutgers—Camden Across the Ages.
