Development Timeline

Introduction

Rutgers—Camden was initially formed in 1926 as the South Jersey School of Law, and operated out of existing buildings in Camden, most notably being an office building on Federal Street. The Law School published several yearbooks called The Archive, featuring photos and etchings of this building. The South Jersey Law school lost its accreditation in 1947, and merged with Rutgers University in 1950. Upon acquiring the College of South Jersey, Rutgers University began developing the Camden Campus into a premier 4 year school. The development and construction of Rutgers—Camden Campus can be understood in three distinct waves.
